Earlier this week, Michalis Vakalellis from AEGIS IT Research had the privilege of serving as a keynote speaker at the Workshop on Awareness and Consciousness in Artificial Intelligence (ACAI), held during the pre-conference events of the popular UbiComp/ISWC 2025. The workshop brought together researchers, innovators, and industry leaders exploring the role of awareness and consciousness in intelligent systems, a timely discussion as AI continues to evolve toward more adaptive, context-aware forms.
In his keynote entitled “From Research to Market: Business Modeling & Commercialization,” Michalis shared insights from his experience as Business Development Manager at AEGIS IT RESEARCH, focusing on how research outcomes can be successfully transformed into market-ready solutions. The presentation emphasized practical strategies for bridging the gap between research innovation and sustainable business impact as an essential step in ensuring that cutting-edge AI technologies reach real-world applications.
Representing the SYMBIOTIK project at the Awareness Inside Portfolio Event, organized by the SUSTAIN project, he highlighted how SYMBIOTIK contributes to more effective human-AI collaboration through adaptive visualization techniques that enhance user awareness during critical decision-making processes.
The workshop provided a unique opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas of how successful commercialization pathways can be shaped based on the research conducted in Pathfinder projects.
