The Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC) organized an international training school in collaboration with Teleco Renta for early-stage researchers, including PhD students and postdocs, to inform them about the latest advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning, and their interplay with telecommunication systems.
On May 16, the scientific research group of Telefónica Innovación Digital welcomed over 40 such visitors from the training school, along with the accompanying research staff from the CTTC (Monica Navarro, Director of Institutional Relations and Communication, Paolo Dini, Head of the Sustainable Artificial Intelligence research unit, and Marco Miozzo), at our premises in Barcelona. The focus was to provide the students with grounded knowledge in the state-of-the-art research approaches in ML, energy-efficient algorithms and understand the interplay with communication systems to achieve pervasive and sustainable sensing, computing, and communication platforms. This public outreach event, sponsored by the EIC Pathfinder SYMBIOTIK project, surpassed our expectations!
The event started with presentations by Dr. Ioannis Arapakis, Head of the Human-Artificial Intelligence Research Lab, and PhD candidates Ángela López Cardona and George Koutroumpas, on TID’s high-risk, high-gain research in SYMBIOTIK and ended with QoA sessions. Next, we offered a tour of our premises and showcased many interesting demos, and concluded with an open floor session, accompanied by drinks and Spanish tapas!
Special mention to all the research students for their engaging questions and the positive energy they “poured” into this event! Their initiative and enthusiasm greatly contributed to the event’s success!
